'LeAnne Sowa - Watercolorist/ Fine Artist'

LeAnne (Mawby) Sowa is a Western Michigan fine artist. At an early age she discovered her passion for art. Every chance she had she would be drawing in a sketch pad or on a piece of paper. Her favorite mediums soon became watercolor, graphite pencil and Pen and Ink.

To hone her skills, LeAnne took every drawing class in high school including mechanical drafting. Later studies included painting classes with Nancy Fox at Montcalm Community College, classes at the Fransican Center under June Berte, Cheri Den Boer and Linda Baker. Her greatest opportunity was to enroll in watercolor classes at Hertfordshire College in Ware, England.

LeAnne has been exhibiting her work since 1988, participating in a multitude of shows. These include shows at St. Cecilia's, Greenville Community Center, Eclectic Gallery in Ionia, Bella Vista Church in Rockford, D2 D2 Rivertown Artists Gallery, the Steketies Rivertown Artists Gallery, Rogue River Artists Group Shows and outdoor shows in Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Rapids, Ionia, Novi and Rockford.

Her art is currently in 'Our Gallery' of Pentwater, 'The Frame and Mat Shop' in Rockford, 'Four Corners Frame Shop' in Holland, 'The Little Yellow Frame and Mat Shop' of Richland.

LeAnne Sowa is married, with two daughters, one dog and two cats. She lives just outside of Cedar Springs where she works from her home studio on Crawford Lake.
